Door lock remote question.

Just acquired the remote for the door lock/unlock key fob thingy.. quick question, when you hit the lock button on remote is it supposed to lock ALL the doors? It locks all of them except the driver door..is it a safety feature to keep you from locking the keys in?

Seems it should lock all the doors, but this is my first Toyota.. if it is supposed to lock them all, I will pop off door panel and take a look see.. 2001 T4R
