Door locks

Ever since I've had my 4runner the key has unlocked both doors yet only when the the passenger door is unlocked with the key it unlocks all the doors. Is the driver side supposed to do the same? Just something I was wondering and could not find an answer on the internet.

mine does the same thing but the other day i turned the key twice fast in the driver door and it unlocked all of them. maybe try that because now i can do it all the time. don't know if it is suppose to or not.

I was hopeful this morning but I had no such luck, maybe I'll try getting some key lube and see what it does. Its nice to hear that it is all least wired to unlock all doors from the driver side.

Lol that does suck. Sounds like a trip to a locksmith or junkyard might be a start.

That's pretty much standard, my Trooper and Sonata work that way, one turn or one click on the remote opens the driver door, 2 turns or clicks opens all.

Thanks for the input everybody. Anyone have a good method for greasing up the key cylinders? Mine work but the driver door is already tough to turn let alone turn fast enough twice to unlock everything. Spraying wd40 or some white lithium while holding back the little tab just seems to make a big mess and is not that effective.
