I cannot unlock all doors using the lock button on the driver side or passenger side and also by using the remore entry key. I can lock all doors by using the lock button on the driver side.

I think zchamouns is saying the drivers side lock button has become a specialist. It only locks all the doors and will not unlock them. I have the same problem and haven't had time to checkout why yet.

Does anyone else have experience with the driver's side lock/unlock button not working correctly?

I can use the remote or the door switch to unlock and lock all doors, BUT the driver side. I have to do it manually. I'm curious to see the experts answer here too!

Your problem is the door lock solenoid or wiring to it. I have a door lock actuator if it is your problem- $20 shipped

To elaborate, the lock works about 3% of the time with the switch or remote. Do you have the part I need to fix?

That is what it sounds like. It sounds like your drivers door lock actuator has crapped out. I have one. $20 shipped.

I have a similar problem, All my doors lock fine by the remote or the drivers side button, but unlocking the driver door I have to pull on the exterior door handle first before it will unlock, with both the remote and the drivers door button. Kinda annoying when I lock myself in, have to roll my window down to pull my door handle before I can even pull the lock up.

It sounds like you have a bad spring or a broken cog. It sounds like you also need a door lock actuator too.

Door lock actuator is the door latch and electric motor all in one.

It is for the drivers door and it was from a 3rd generation 4runner.

I just bought 99 Limited and the dealer says the actuators need to be replace at a cost of $1240.00 for all 4. They all open slow and will not cycle more than 2 times before quitting. Is the $20 actuator you have the same ones the dealer says I need and how difficult is it to replace these?
