yup. the weatherstripping on both my rear doors has torn. (weatherstrip on the body, not the door itself, to be exact.)

Well, the dealer fixed the weatherstripping. But I had to return to the dealer a couple hours later to have the trim piece covering the SRS on the A post put back into place as the top of the trim popped out. There was no way I was going to fool with an airbag cover. It now fits better than it ever has.

I had a 97 4Runner for 15 years. Never garaged. Never had an issue with Door Seals tearing. Early on, during cold weather (Portland, OR) moisture had frozen to the seals and pretty much locked me out. After that, I learned to treat the seals (after a thorough washing) with Black Majic Tire Wet...squirt some on a small rag and wipe down all the rubber parts. Those seals looked factory new even after 15 years, and no more sticking.
Reminds me, need to apply the BM on my new rig before it starts getting really cold. The BM is also great for any body parts (bumpers, mud flaps, wheel moulding) that you don't want to get wax on. I love the stuff!
Here's a great tip: When you wash the rig, make sure to clean all of the door edge and body surfaces where the seals contact (dirt can build up and hold moisture). And, wax those places too (makes it much easier to keep clean).

Yep. I always use a thin coat of petroleum jelly. Where I live it rains then freezes then is 60 degrees a day later. Many times I couldn't get a door open until I learned that little trick. Protects door seals too.

i need to smarten up and give the weatherstripping a rubdown with 303 Protectant.
2021 DOOR seal failure Left Front
32,000 miles on our 2021 4runner and Southern Maryland Toyota's opinion is that the door seal where the door trim is obviously rubbing on the seal about half way down the door / is normal wear, I've owned 3 Toyota products that have logged 300000 miles on each with no door seal issues other than mud on the door kicks. They will gladly fix it for $281.90. I hope this is not an indication of how they plan to stand behind their reliability reputation. Found the part online for $80 at McGeorge Toyota of Richmond VA. Anyone replace this before?

I'm having a hard time imagining what you're talking about, you have any pictures? I would imagine that should be covered under bumper to bumper... most of the time when it comes to weather stripping and drip moulding, we end up just rolling it under warranty because it's often one of those "eh, can't prove the customer caused it and it probably was a defect..." things.
I will occasionally wipe down my weather stripping with some cleaner and then a light coat of something like Tri-Flow or silicone spray. You also will want to wipe your body where the seals meet, it'll quiet down any squeaking and help them from sticking/tearing.
