Dormant 4Runner Help

So our family's V8 4Runner has been garaged for 4 months and will probably be for another 2-3 months. It's at the 47k mark and I want to know what major maintenance may be needed after being out for this long. I already know I am looking at a new battery since the current one is completely dead. From what I know, my dad only changed the brake pads around 41k and followed up on oil and filter changes.

I am currently looking for the maintenance schedule so I can see if we skipped anything important, and when I take out the 4Runner I will have over $3000 to work on it, so I want to know if I have anything to look out for.

I already know I am going to give this a shot, since I know the 4lo has probably been flexed once by me around the 15k mark and being the pessimistic person I am, I'm prepared for it to not engage.

I really appreciate the help. If I don't use all of the $3000 then i'll look into mods :biggrin2:

Hope this doesn't get buried :(

I would change out the diff oil not just because the extended sitting time but just because if i remember correctly its 20k on the diif oil that came in the diff from the factory. I believe that changes to around 75k-90k if you change to synthetic. Change out the engine oil just in case. And dont forget ti give it a nice drive!:p

Thanks, so far on my to do list:
-transmission fluid
-diff fluid
-lube the drive shaft
-new car battery

And definitely taking her our for a drive!

Mine just sat in Garage for 7 months. Wife did crank it around once a month for around 15 minutes run time each time. I came back home and the Runner ran great. Upon my return I did engage 4LO a few times and diff lock to keep them lubed. No issues here. Love the Runner. Best vehicle I've ever had. Now I'm back across the pond and she'll sit another 4 months or so.

Same here, I've driven multiple vehicles, even now I currently drive a 2011 Frontier, but I feel like no ride compares to the 4Runner. Can't wait to take it back out and give it the attention it deserves since I'm finally going to be its only driver.
