Double-decker removal

I am going to purchase a 2008 SE. It seems like most come with a "value package" that includes the double-decker system in the rear. I really don't want it, but I'm worried that I might have to end up getting it.

I know owners have removed it, but I've read that it leaves a gap.

Question: Can this gap be filled? Can part of the floor be replaced by the standard floor pieces to eliminate the gap? (Cost?)

I appreciate the input of the knowledgeable owners! :)

See thread with photos located here.

There is a part that can be ordered that will fill the gap, someone here should be able to provide you that. You will, however, not have a flat cargo area, as the portion where the gap is will have about a 1 inch difference in height.

Thank you for the reply.
I guess it's not really an option to remove it.

I hate that Toyota has the "value package". I like everything else in the package, except for the DD. But if I order the other stuff separately, it will cost hundreds more.

Decisions, decisions.....
