Double Din HU

hey guys, I'm in the market for a cd player. I was just wondering if anyone was using a double din 7" screen HU. one similar to this (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9230986&type=product&id=1218063832239) I was just curious if anyone had any viewing issues, such as being able to see the screen well in their truck with this sort of cd player. thanks for the insight

IIRC, that unit is a few years old, nothing wrong with that, check out the FJ Cruiser forums, a few of them are running that HU and seem to like it, they even loaded TOPO maps :bluejump:

I have the Kenwood DNX5120 and couldn't be happier! There is no viewing issues. Be sure to check out the electronics/car audio section in this forum for more info on double din units

Can't speak for the Kenwood, but I'm running the Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD (full touch screen). I love it. Here's a stock photo of it:

I have the Eclipse 6620. It is an amazing unit. I bought it as it is the same touchscreen nav system as Lexus interiors, very easy to use, its a dvd player as well. You cannot load a dvd when in park as it will hit the shifter, but whatever. You shouldnt be watching a dvd and driving at the same time anyway.

i haven't heard a lot about the kenwood double dins, i'm running the pioneer 3100 6" screen, no viewing troubles at all and its very plush with the rest of the dash, it love it and the way it looks, it adds a whole new aspect to riding in the runner. it also made the sound quality amazing compared to stock. i paid 560 for the screen and installation/parts.

I installed the Pioneer AVH-P3100 into my bro-in-law's Mazda3. Works real great. I would definitely search around and find better deals than what Best Buy has to offer.

I have the same radio that 2000runr has, it is a great unit. Once I had the radio installed I had the shop bypass the unit so that the passengers can watch movies while driving and also the ability to input directions while the car is moving. I don't know exactly what they did but for safety reasons eclipse does not let you do the above mention. I have ipod and bluethooth also might add backup camera in the future. Go with eclipse you can go wrong, a lot of toyota come from factory with this brand.

Friend of mine has the Pioneer 3100 above, very nice unit. I'm thinking of getting one or the 4100. Have had a couple of Pioneer HU's before and always worked well. Don't buy anything from Bestbuy, they are the worse. Crutchfield has great support but usually more expensive, but sometimes they do have good deals, especially their outlet store.

i also had a backup camera installed, but uninstalled the bluetooth that came with it as it was crap.
with the new iphone 3gs, i honestly find googlemaps live turn by turn to be better than the nav on the eclipse, however for long road trips its nice to follow where you are.

I got my Pioneer 4100 two months ago for $399 at this place...I see now that it's since gone up $10:
