Double DIN Stereo

That's a good price. I paid $219.00 + 13% tax at Best Buy for the unit.

I like how the colours can be adjusted as well but I can't seem to get it to "stick" on the colour I prefer. Every time I start the truck it goes back to that annoying scrolling through every colour in the rainbow. Do you know a trick to get a preferred colour to stick permanently by chance?

Sounds like maybe your constant power isnt hooked up right and is only getting acc power. Is your clock resetting everytime?

There are two power leads to the deck. One is for constant power to the battery to save settings and the clock and the other powers the hu when the key is on. But if your clock and other settings arent getting reset, you are probably ok. My daughter figured out the color stuff on her own, without the manual, and set it to what she likes and it stays that way.

By the way, someone here warned me not to hookup the dimmer wire because of the way toyota does it. They said it could burn out the rheostat for the dimmer to the whole dash.

Its funny this thread popped up. My cheap-o JVC single din actually lasted bout 5 years and through 2 different vehicles. It's starting to crap out on me, but it did it's job. I've always wanted a Pioneer AVH-p4200 but then I saw the p4300 which for some reason you can find cheaper than the older version. Don't know why. My only problem is I have a CB radio below my single din, so I'm torn if I really need a fancy double din touch screen. I mainly want something that's Pandora and iPhone ready, but it's so hard to navigate on those little single din screens.

Haha, alright. I might have to get my wife on that one because I'm all out of ideas. Maybe it needs the female touch!

I just installed a AVH-P4300 in my 4Runner and love it - the buttons are intuitive and the sound is pretty solid for having no amp.

As I will be using my rig for camping, having a fancy DVD player is sure nice - I can sit back and watch movies if I so desire.

It's frustrating that I had to buy cable specific to the iPod but I suppose the back up camera integration makes up for it. Sure is nice having a decent camera for reversing.

Love the look of the of the AVH-P4300DVD but didn't want to fork out another $150 for the optional Bluetooth adapter. They should have made a AVH-P4300BT model as well. Although I almost never use it for movies to make it totally worthwhile.

Maybe it has a demo mode that needs to be turned off and everytime you power it up, it defaults to demo before you start using it. I think I do remember mine going through all the colors when I first powered it up. But once I got it all installed and everything buttoned back up, I turned it over to my daughter - it was her birthday present.

Ugh - oh ya, forgot about that one.

They hit me pretty hard in the wallet, but hey, I only spent $200 on a different Pioneer deck for my Civic and it came with BlueTooth. Go figure...

I splurged a little and bought an Alpine INA-W910. Navi, bluetooth,HD radio,ipod/iphone with Pandora control. I ran the USB/ipod cable through the ashtray (you can still close it),lined the ashtray with felt and my iphone sits inside. No pics yet,I'll post soon.

I have the same as josh.bunch...pretty happy with it so far. Got it from Crutchfield for $139. Going to get the Sirius adapter here shortly...I had it in my last truck, and it sucks not having it now. I hate terrestrial radio and all their commercials!

apparently Pioneer just came out with a whole new line-up of double dins. I have my eye on the avh-p4400BH. Coming out in February. Looks like I'm waiting :D

Finally the successor to the AVH-P4300 finally has Bluetooth built in. Now I want one too but can't justify replacing my AVH-P3300BT for. :(

It also looks like the Bluetooth now does audio streaming from your phone/devices as well. Sigh...

Resurrecting this thread.

I am looking to order the AVH4400 because it looks PERFECT. Finally a great pioneer system with bluetooth for my iphone!

Anyways, I have a '00 T4R and I'm wondering what else I need to find as far as dash kits?

Will this go in pretty cleanly or will I even need a dash kit?

You won't need a dash kit. You'll just take the brackets off the stock deck and put them on the new one. You might want to get a wiring harness kit if you don't want the headache of splicing into your existing wiring. I would. Makes installing that much easier, plus you can always revert back to your stock setup super easy or swap out for another deck if need be.

Anyone know where to get the right harness? Nothing on ebay...
