So many great forum members with their awesome trucks and build threads have inspired me to take action with my own purpose-build 5th gen SR5. For those that don't know me, I am an avid outdoorsman, fisherman, and hunter. I have been toying with the idea of attempting the Wyoming Cutthroat slam for a couple of years since my friend and inspiring fly-fishing mentor, Anthony (who also happens to be a proud FJ cruiser owner), knocked it out before starting medical school. It has been a pipe-dream for a while until this year, when the mod-bug took me by storm and I needed a GREAT reason to justify all the money I was spending on the 4R to my girlfriend. Thus, I am planning to drive out to western Wyoming this August with my rig to attempt and hopefully complete the Cutt Slam. The journey should take me through beautiful backcountry in the Rockies and for those also interested in Fly-Fishing, or overlanding to fishing destinations, I hope to have time to blog about my adventures. In the meantime, here's my build thread...

Happy Holidays, my friends!
My friend had some vacation days to burn, so we used his barn and lift to get my lift installed. We put bolted in the toytec ultimate lift and threw on a set of fj steelies wrapped in 285/70r17 Bfgoodrich all-terrain KOs. Dash abs, vsc, and 4wd indicator is on, so we broke something in the process, but she rides good and there's only a slight rub with the 285s and only on slopes and uneven surfaces at full lock. I hope the fender liner mod should resolve this issue. Having a toyota mechanic friend look at the codes and perform zero point calibration this weekend.

I love them. Some people complain about getting their leg stuck getting out of the back seat though. If you have kids/women, either get the regular ones or get them plated (at least in the rear)

*UPDATE*
The rubbing is getting worse. Before, it was a slight rub in the left front at full left turn lock. Is this a function of the suspension settling in? Scheduled for alignment on Monday...safe to drive in the meantime? I have fj steelies. Anybody try a stock 17x7.5 with 285/70r17 that has had this issue and was able to resolve?

search for specifics but, basically what you need to do is try to dial in more positive caster (as close to about 4 as possible) and also possibly move the fender liner forward a bit for better clearance. At least that's what I gather from reading posts here, my car is completely stock so no rubbing issues here

Zero point cal should dim the Christmas lights. Your alignment tech will probably be unsuccessful in getting you to 4° castor as well. Time to start shopping for new Uca's.

Should be able to, yes. Popular wisdom suggests that even with uca's, getting the correct alignment numbers will depend on the aptitude and work ethic of the tech working on your truck. Try to get it into a shop with 4x4 experience.

With work and life getting in the way, I haven't had the time to update. I've since installed the Gobi stealth rack and Cobra 75 CB with a Wilson 2000 antenna in a hood/fender mount application. I'm thinking that I'll probably get a 2M Ham radio down the road for longer range communication. It will probably come in handy for my trip to Wyoming this summer.

My ARB bumper is stateside. I am having the bumper, a Warn VR10000 Winch an also IPF 900 driving lights installed this weekend by 4 Wheel Parts. I am pumped!!! I'll post about the installation when complete.
