Doug Thorley long tube headers

My 2006 sr5 v8 with 240k on it has developed a severe exhaust leak in several places from manifolds all the way back. I’ve been researching replacement parts and I’m really leaning towards the Doug thorley long tubes and it’s y pipe configuration. I’ve searched YouTube and here and I can’t find anyone worth that setup to see how it sounds.

Can anyone help me out here and link me to someone that has that setup? I do a lot of miles driving and I don’t want something to crazy stupid loud that’s going to give me head aches in road trips I take.

Exhaust

I will try to get some sound bites from my Sons V8. He has Long Tubes and Y-pipe by DT. Gessi Cats in place of the resonators on the Y-pipe. URD Cat Back. Sounds great not stupid loud at all. It's not annoying on the freeway either. It has a resonator outback to. The hardware supplied by DT is Cheap.
Gaskets are Cheap. He also has titanium header bolts. They definitely needed to be retorqued.

Any thoughts on the short tube Doug Thorley headers vs long tube on which is easier to install?

My 2004 V8 is just starting the tick sound... mostly when it's cold but when the motor warms up you don't hear it... I know it's going to get worse so I'm going to do the DT header replacement. Just not sure which one yet.

Thats kinda why im asking lol. I wouldnt mind bipassing the cat and not having to worry about that extra cost. BUT I dont want to drive something thats extremely obnoxious.

I'm selling my factory manifolds after upgrading to long tubes, removed at 160k miles and were working fine. Fits 2005+ V8s. PM me for more info.

Did he use different gaskets than the one supplied by DT?

The exhaust sound created in Park while stabbing the gas pedal is nothing like while driving at speed and stabbing the throttle. Unless you're planning on throwing her in Neutral in red lights and revving the engine like a ricer, which is totally cool too!

Recording the exhaust tone from inside the vehicle at speed is really hard to pull off. Unless someone is standing outside while you zoom by at different speeds and different gas pedal stabbing, this is a tough request to pull off!

I have the DT shorties, probably going on 6+ years now and I have no complaints. I think I went with Magnaflow cross pipe, Magnaflow cats and some kind of SS exhaust from Jason. I did put the factory tailpipe resonator back on for a more appealing sound to my ears.

One of the Magnaflow cat might have the honeycomb matrix blown out since I'm now getting a "cat below threshold" CEL. When the time comes for me to swap out the cat, I'll install exhaust V band clamps, something like these. Knowing what I know now about exhaust pipe connections and the hardware, I'll use V band clamps on everything related to exhaust. Yeah, the upfront cost is higher but the ease of connecting/disconnecting exhaust sections from each other is a breeze. No more exhaust gaskets and junk. No more worrying about shitty hardware rusting out and such.

I did this V band thing when I redid the exhaust on my 80 series with 2.5" SS mandrel bent piping. Man, what a pleasure it is to remove exhaust sections, muffler, etc w/o a pissing contest. No more exhaust leaks, and so easy to bring two sections together. Pic is from the 80 series.

Sorry about the rant.
