Drilling into back of rear seat

Hello, can anyone tell me if there is wood behind the upholstery on the back of the rear seats? I am trying to figure out the hardware for mounting something and if they have a 1" thick piece of wood in there or what to make it rigid? i wouldnt want passengers back there to feel hardware coming through the back of the seats ever...

thanks. i felt back there yesterday and it feels like a .25 or 3/8" plastic piece like you were saying...check out the thread from a 5th gen i found below though, there are some good pictures of what i am trying to do. i do have a backup plan or other options in case this isnt a good idea for the 4th gen seat-back. i have the same mount by the way and measured everything up, marker for drilling yesterday.

Yeah, I happen to now because I had a customer who's seat back was damaged and would not stay mounted, so I had a good view of it off the seat. That just seems like an inconvenient location for a high-lift if you're loaded up.

i wasnt really wondering about convenience of the location, rather the structural properties of bolting the two brackets into the seat-back, and trying to confirm if its strong enough. i have another idea im going to look into too, thanks for your input that its basically just a thin piece of plastic. the 5th gen pic i linked above looks like theirs are wood but i could be wrong.
