But it was *supposed* to be set in Riverside, CA... (~90 mi. east of LA)

Riverside (err... California) wouldn't give the production any tax breaks, so they re-wrote the location and moved to NM.

Breaking Bad is fiction. There are places where the methamphetamine problem is much worse than it is in NM. Heroin is the issue in NM. Nuff said.

The ONLY reason it was filmed here is because our state economy is hurting so bad that the state government has created huge tax breaks for film production in NM with the intention of generating jobs.

Unfortunately Breaking Bad created a mass of uninformed individuals that think a fictional TV drama somehow depicts reality in our state.
