Driveline noise after lift install

I had recently installed a 3" Toytech suspension lift on my 1997 4Runner 2WD. Right after the lift installation mu truck developed a humming noise (no notisable vibration) that appears to be coming from the driveshaft. The noise only happens between 50-70 mph and only when I,m holding a constant speed or using the cruise control. No noise at all while accelerating or when reducing speed. I visited a local shop that specializes on driveshaft work, the tech rep told me that I needed to lenghten the drive shaft in order to get ready of the noise. Is this accurate?

It might be. The 4WD models have propeller shafts and sleeve yokes that auto adjust for length between the spider bearings. However, the 2WD has solid propeller shaft (drive shaft) with fixed length between the spider bearings. The sleeve yoke on a 2WD mates forward of the spider bearings directly to the transmission.

If you were getting noise without vibration on a stock setup, it would either be worn sleeve yoke splines or worn spider bearings. They could also be your problem if it's not driveshaft length.

Nope, the noise started right after I installed the lift. No noise or any vibration with stock suspension. If I need the driveshaft lenghten, how much can I expect to pay?

Well it sounds to me like all it would take is a spacer and some longer hardware at the rear of the driveshaft. I'm not sure if this is actually an option, if it is, you can easily install that yourself

Clicking Noise after 3" lift install

I don't know if the 3" lift has anything to do with the sound, but it began right after it along with some other problems that i don't think would correlate with a lift.

So the noise is a loud clicking noise somewhere from the center or rear of the car. I can induce it to sound louder by stepping on the gas just a tiny bit, and the harder I press on the gas the more the sound will go away. A week ago you could barely hear it when just coasting, but now it's very audible. I still haven't gotten my alignment. I cannot hear the clicking when in parked or neutral with higher RPMs. I've went under there and the driveshaft barely has any play in it at all. The noise doesnt change when turning in sharp circles either. Also, the clicking gets faster the faster the car goes. I still have to get my alignment done. Many say it's a U joint issue but they say that it vibrates and I dont sense any vibration. Any help would be amazing!!
