driver seat broke in half

took off in a hurry when light turned green, seat snapped and fell back into rear seat , ended up staring at the ceiling, floored through the intersection. but anyways having a hard time trying to find a replacement driver seat for this 4runner. is there a sr5 pickup or some other model seat that will direct bolt in?

Don't know about others fitting, but could you get a tan one, switch over plastics, and put some covers on the fronts? Might be a lot easier I think to find a tan one. Food for thought.

That sucks—but I couldn help but laugh out loud as I pictured you blasting away from the stoplight while laying flat and staring at the headliner...

where are you located? the yard near me has a 2001 with gray seats, $75 each. they are in nice condition.

it was pretty funny, wonder what other people around where thinking. but i am in sf bay area, have gray cloth, leather would be nice if it wold bolt up

A couple options that I might do:

- Take the seat apart and have it welded by a competent welder preferably TIG.

- If you can find a seat in any color, you can quite easily change the upholstery, I just went through this on my truck I will be posting about it in a moment ( my seat didn't break)

What part broke? Was it the frame or the rail? If it's just the rail you should be able to get one easily - maybe even new wouldn't be that expensive.

the cloth is getting badly worn, holes forming. color dont matter i guess. all the thin metal completely ripped apart. i dont know if it would hold up welded that good for a fat guy. (6'2 260lbs) main reason for ripping apart. there was also alot of plastic pieces all over. it was like a bomb went off.

The seats are very easy to work on, if you got a replacement seat you could easily switch the fabric, if your foam is worn it is usually the main cause of holes forming in the fabric so if you add new unworn foam it can add life to your fabric.

You could even glue some fabric behind the holes to fix it up.

Of course this is all if you cannot find a matching seat...
