Driver Seat Cushion Shield Broken- DIY or Pay for Fix?

Hey guys! I searched the prior threads but couldn’t find an answer, so I was hoping to get some of your expertise.

My 2014 drivers seat “Cushion shield” is broken. I found a part that looks like what I need (not sure if it includes both front and side pieces).

Is this a DIY job or should I take it into the show known as the dealership? I don’t have a Toyota warranty but I have the Geico equivalent which I understand is good, but comes with a $250 deductible for any repair. I will
Be honest and say I have limited mechanical skills.

[MENTION=112338]Kenny Powers[/MENTION], what do you mean by broken? Is it just loose? That trim part is held in by clips and if I remember correctly one screw. Post a picture of what it looks like and we can go from there. I had to take my front seats apart when I swapped my fabric for leather in order to preserve my fabric upholstery for later on. I can probably walk you through replacement.

Hi. My apologies, I should have been more detailed. For a while where the front plastic piece is joined to the left (side) piece, the male fittings would not be seated all the way into the female pieces. Now it appears the front piece has the male attachment clips pulling away from the plastic, so the corner where the left side and front side meet no longer connect

No worries, the pictures are clear enough. Let me look at my front seat again tomorrow to make sure I understand which part is broken and take some pictures of my front seat tomorrow evening for you, to show you how the trim part is mounted to the seat frame.

From what I see in the photo, the plastic part on the front of the seat is still attached to the "slip join" of the outer left hand trim with the seat switches, while that trim part has basically broken.

Going to be honest here, the easiest way to replace this is going to involve pulling the seat from the vehicle. If you are ok with doing that, i.e. undoing electrical connectors after the battery is disconnected, and undoing four bolts holding the seat to the floor, you should be ok. If not, I would recommend the dealership.

This is maybe a one hour repair for the dealer, which even with the cost of a new part is less than the warranty deductible you listed.

Do you think that part I listed above includes the front and side pieces? I couldn’t tell and there were limited details.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead.

The plastic on my seat detached like yours but is not broken. I am having trouble re-attaching the two pieces.

Any tips?
