Driver side door latch (inside) not unlocking

Hi everyone,

My first post on here. I just bought an 03 4runner (limited) and there is a minor problem with the drivers side door latch (inside the truck).

When trying to open the door after turning the truck off (the doors automatically lock when driving) I cannot open the door in one motion of the latch. It takes two tries before the door will open. Its like the lock opens half way with one motion then fully opens on the second.

I don't have any other issues with the door, it opens with the flob and key no problem.

Any ideas? I have search but can't seem to find the same issue....

Cheers

Paul

Maybe it is some worn or loses linkage inside of the inside door handle/open lever, just sounds wierd as if it should work.

PSC38,

Did you figure it out? I am searching for a similar fix for my problem below..

My 2005 4 runner driver side door will not shut due to the latch not being able to "click" and thus kept the door shut. Also, the inner door handle and manual lock button are inoperable. Almost certain this is the actuator, but it's odd because everyone on the forums write their actuator problem won't let them lock the door as opposed to my problem, keeping the door shut. This malfunction happened when my wife was out with our baby and toddler while it was raining. She had to bungee the door shut with two windows partly down just to get home! Could this be something besides an actuator replacement need? I pulled the inner door panel off, but no clues were evident that point to anything besides the actuator.

Thanks.
