Driver's side rear window.

I suspect my driver's side rear window motor is dead. I checked the voltage going to the motor. +8.3V when switch is in window down position, -8.3V when in up position, (these could be reversed :beer

Do these motors need 12V? I can here a faint click in the motor when the switch is activated. The motor also gets very warm t the touch after repeatedly playing with the switch.

sounds like it may be done, or poss a bad regulator it is most likely cable driven and sometimes they fray and bind which will not allow the motor to pull or push the heat to me sounds like it is trying to spin but isn't being allowed to ope this helps

That's what I thought!

Hard to see what's going on with the regulator in there!

The motor and regulator are one piece, no cables.

I had the same motor for the same window go out. I paid $45 from ebay for a new one, now it's the fastest window I have.

All it takes is a door panel and 4 bolts and you're done.

Any idea why 8.3 Volts instead of 12? Could that be the issue? Service manual says it should be 12. I guess I'm wondering if low voltage/current can cause a motor to not function but produce heat...

Cancel that question. The motor was putting a lot of load on the circuit. Hence the heat and low voltage. I disconnected the motor and got 12.5 volts at the connector with no load. I took the motor apart and there was a black line on the contacts. I sanded down the contacts and reassembled, works great. Reinstalled and now I have 4 windows working!
