Driver's Side Window - Clunking Fix

Hey folks. My driver's side window was making a terrible "Ker-Clunk" noise when it was lowered past about half way. Turned out that the door stay was in the window's way when the door was closed. Bunch of pics in attached write up.

Do you think this issue could be caused by the door being swung open abruptly by high winds, causing it to over-extend?
