Driving/spinning in sand, clicking sound

2006 SE5 2wd

I've noticed when driving on sand, specifically softer areas at the beach where the truck starts to bog down, I'll get a clicking sound (similar to when ABS is engaged). Is this something to be alarmed with?

Also, any tips on driving in softer sand? While I've never had to be pulled out, I have had to dig out the sand in front of the tires on a few occasions. I'm curious if it's best to engage/disengage any of the driver's assistance modes, etc. Again, this is a 2wd.

The clicking is most likely your traction control kicking in.
For better traction in sand it is a good idea to lower the psi in your tires. Something like 20psi but ive gone down to 15

Yeah, while I've never done that, I know that's a smart thing to do.

I've been reading a bit about our Auto LSD function. I may try engaging this next time I'm out to see if it makes a difference.

I should have mentioned this but I'm not talking climbing dunes or anything. Just normal 10mph cruising down the beach with the family. A quick clearing of sand has always gotten be free BUT I just wanted to make sure I was using my 4R to it's capability.
