DRL Mod?

Looks like an interesting mod. I have thought about doing a "drl off switch" mod but not a "drl always on" mod.

How about using a three way switch like the ones I used for my maplight mod. The down position would be for normal drl operation. Up would be for DRL on always (with the parking and/or headlights) and center position could be for DRL's always off.

Taking a quick look, it seems like it may be easy. Locate the D2 Daytime Running Light Relay and locate wire #12 light green with a red stripe.

Cut it and wire the side coming from the body ecu to the bottom prong on the switch. The center prong on the switch should go to the #12 light green with a red stripe. The upper prong on the switch would be wired to an ignition based 12V+ positive wire.

Thats a quick look and I will look at it more tonight, I gotta take off now.

I too have thought about this... On the '06-'09 are you guys concerned about heat? That's caused me to pause. I have thought about summertime, sitting in traffic and warping/burning the lens & possibly the housing.


Am I overthinking this? I like the idea of the mod but I'm worried heat:nerd:

I too am curious about this mod. There is so much that I want to do but it is getting too cold now that I finally got the time.

Are the daytime running lights on the 03-05's the lights right beside the foglights? Thats the only light that turns off when I turn the headlights on. If I am wrong, which bulb is the DRL?
