Well since i finally did something to the t4r i figured id start my build thread. Betty Lou is my 96 natural white t4r 4x4

here she was today before i did my first mod (other than swapping out my stereo)

Then i took the running boards off YAY!!! been waiting to do that!

<a href="http://s42.photobucket.com/albums/e334/hondafmx1000/t4r%20pix/?action=view&current=IMG_20120206_151204.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e334/hondafmx1000/t4r%20pix/IMG_20120206_151204.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

But as for the bad news, my injectors are still acting up, last time im going to get refurbished anything... especially from flea bay. :(

Well i guess this is relevant to my build thead so i figured id put it on here. i talked to the place that sent me my bad injectors and theyre sending a new set today so maybe this weekend ill be able to get my t4r running better, well she runs good but theres fuel leaking from the injectors causing hard starts. Next time im in there ill try to do a write up for an injector swap.

Betty Lou looks to be off to a good start. Hope you get the injectors figured out soon. X2 on the future mods. Let us know what's in the future for her!

so guys for the future mods, ill start from the ones ill probably start with:

1. stereo and subwoofer
2.roof rack
3. window tint (tired of the fishbowl)
4. stickers to make it faster
5. led lights for the interior and hid headlights
6.throttle body spacer
7.lift (toyotec ultimate?)
8. wheels and tires (probably cooper st)

Hey dude....

Nice looking rig! Looks like my Valve Cover Gaskets are in....so I'm planning on doing my injectors maybe this weekend too! Let me know how you make out with yours!

Good luck!

for sure fightman, i will, i sent that guy another email, and hes gonna send a new set of injectors and im going to pray to the good lord that they are okay. i work the next 8 days in a row :( but next weekend i have like 3 or 4 days in a row off so ill definitely have it done then, maybe some other mods too, *my tax return should be coming in soon* :)

Looks like I'm doing mine on Saturday....so wish me luck! I'm just gonna swap out the bad ones with my old ones....they were still working fine..just thought I'd put all the refurbed ones in.....

ya hopefully that works for you, after you do it again youll be a pro at replacing injectors in the 5vzfe lol.

on a side note guys, what is a good roof rack for a decent price? I figure id get some opinions on it before i just go buy one.

So i got the injectors in today HOORAY!!! but i wont be able to get to them til next weekend :( anywho, any recomendations for a roof rack or double din stereos?? let me know!!

on your mod list you have throttle body spacer listed. You may want to research that a little more, from what i've read the concensus is that they don't do ****.

no roof rack recomendations, but I love my eclipse AVN series double din head unit.

Well i guess ive done a few things to the T4R that i havent really shown so i felt the need to update, i bought a roof rack after taking a fishing trip realizing that man itd be nice to have some more room in the cargo area*it literally had only room for 3 people i folded half of the rear seat down* but anyways roof rack, which i hope to put some lights on eventually, i got the extension for it that way i can hold alot. i wish the crossbars were lower so the rack could sit lower! oh well. oh yea i did a grill mod, i had an extra 20 bucks so i figured what the hell, and i painted that little plastic piece on the bumper black again because the old faded grey look wasnt cool.

anyways i hope to put some new speakers in soon and possibly a new stereo deck, i want one with a damn ipod hookup lol. and im thinking pioneer speakers, they've treated me well in the past and the prices are good.

Gave Betty Lou a bath today =) should be gettin her a new stereo asap, i got a new iphone but cant plug it in! lol so that'll be fun to have, then im going to replace all the stock speakers with pioneer 3 ways. Deer season is right around the corner in cali so i cant wait to take her on some trails!!

<a href="http://s42.photobucket.com/albums/e334/hondafmx1000/?action=view&current=new4r.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e334/hondafmx1000/new4r.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

on a sad note though, my best buddy sold his really solid tacoma and bought a chevy, ugh talk about a downgrade! lol well it is nice but im not a chevy guy, I definitely cant wait to lift my rig and that way i dont feel so small compared to all the bigger trucks my friends have!

Well so i guess id update, i just bought 4 new speakers and a new deck for the t4r, i was sick of not being able to utilize my ipod! lol and one of my back speakers wasnt working and i think another speaker was blown so i just bought new ones.I got the 1400 series double din pioneer deck and pioneer speakers all around, great for the money and i had them in my old truck and never had a problem. i cant wait to put them in! plenty of pics will be taken and guiness will be consumed!

Oh man that amp is a pretty good deal too! I definitely will get one eventually! I'm not the best with wiring and stuff yet but practice makes perfect! Will I have to rewire through the doors and stuff? That sounds tough but I haven't really looked inside the guts yet!

Yes, you will have to rewire the speakers through the doors which is kind of a PITA, but it can definitely be done. Rather than the speakers being wired to the head unit, they are wired directly to the amp, so you would have to run new wiring from the speakers to wherever you decide to mount the amp. Then you would have to run wires from the battery and the head unit to the amp.

Hey there fellow 4runners,

so i think this will be my first post with some real meat in it lol. So here are the recent going ons of myself and betty lou*the t4r*

so firstly i got my new head unit and speakers, i thought i was going to put them in this weekend but a different opportunity arose that i just had to take!

the other set of speakers isnt in the pic! ill show them off when i install them! :)

but anywho i went on my first real offroad excursion ever which was pretty awesome for just a 2 day trip!

heres the pic of where we went its called courtright reservoir its the largest man made reservoir in california, with some awesome fishing and great scenery its at 8300 feet in elevation so its definitely some clean air and let me tell you that water was crystal!

notice the toyota trucks hat! cant leave home without that!

anyways in addition to great fishing, it also is home to one of the most difficult trails i hear in the nation! but its called the Dusy trail it has a trail rating of 9/10 one way and 10/10 the other, theres no way my stock ass 4runner and little experience could take the 30 mile 4 day beating it has to offer, but one day it will! i did take the first two miles of the trail to get the primo spot on the lake, which by no means was oh my god crazy but was kinda technical in some areas, my dad said the trail doesnt really start til the 3rd mile. anyways heres some poser pics of me and the 4r

i managed to only scrape once, and since it was my first time offroading of nasty rocky granite sh*t i figured i did good, and i cant even find where it hit, im thinking it was the undercarriage though!

anyways hope you like the pics and ill have more updates soon.

Well FINALLY i got all my speakers and deck installed, kind of a drawn out process because my rear speakers didnt fit the stock housings so i had to build my own! lol but here are some pics of the new stuff.

146.jpg~original

custom built housings for the speakers, probably better than the plastic damn thing they were in in the first place, just some particle board strategically cut to fit the door.

144.jpg~original

another view of the rear passenger door speaker.

heres a crappy phone picture of the new deck, im more than impressed with it and i love being able to plug my iphone directly into the front.

overall i am most definitely satisfied with the sound for the cost the pioneer speakers really were great for the money but like other members have said i need to put an amp on them lol. i got all 4 speakers for 105 dollars from amazon, not bad at all. i definitely cant wait to get a subwoofer, even though since these are 3/4 way speakers they have quite a bit of bass. but they sound good.
