Dumb Question - Listen To Music With Doors Open

Is there a key position that will allow you to listen to music with the doors open and not have the "Door Ajar" chime constantly ringing?

I tried both ACC and ON, and they both seem to trigger the chime constantly.

Am I doing it wrong?

driver's door is the only one that causes the ding to my knowledge...in for info on disabling this. (may be doable thorugh Techstream, dealer disabled the seatbelt ding for me)

party mode was removed after a certain years model correct? So what youre asking is IMPOSSIBLE!

The simple solution is just take the key blade and latch the door latch while the door is open

I just open them typically on the highway at 75mph, I usually don’t hear the chime .

Nope they work with sensing wires.

You could find something to push the door pin switch in while the door is open. Maybe a clamp or something. Probably easier to just open the windows lol

If it’s a sensor wire can you just close the loop by soldiering both wires together . I did that with my Audi brake sensor to trick the sensor when I replaced the brakes

Oh, it won't take all day. I'd say about 2 hours and you will be toast. True story, of my first week of ownership. :mad2: :wtf:

So avoiding all the stuff you already know about running down your battery, etc., I'll share my experience:

I've got a dual battery setup and my entire stereo is fed off the aux battery. I installed a switch that supplies 12v to the "IGN" input wire on my head unit (and amps), which turns on JUST the head unit and amps. Whenever I'm tailgating or working on my car I just flip this switch on and I can blast my music all day without ever touching the main battery. With no key in the ignition, your door chime will never activate. Simple and effective.

LOL...thanks guys! Apparently the answer is, "no, there isn't a key position that does that"! Some creative ideas here, though!

Kind of surprising, I guess, but then maybe not if you think about the purpose of the chime (telling you your key is still in the ignition)!

My simple use case is that I like to let the music roll while I am unloading my mountain bike and gearing up. I am in and out of the driver's door during this process, so thought it would be great if there was an easy answer - apparently not.

So today, I just rolled the windows down, and that wasn't bad. Just another step that I otherwise wouldn't need.

I wouldn't think it should be to hard to figure out. This button is whats telling the T4R the door is open. Seems like it would be easy enough to take off and put in some kind of bypass switch on the inside.

On my 2017 Off Road, if I turn ignition to On position with the door open, it will chime 5 times then stop.
To the Acc position the chime keeps going.

Same for me. It chimes a few times then stops and you can leave the door open

Keep it simple; Put a switch in series with that door courtesy switch.
