I'm new to all this but plan on buying Te soon. Can someone explain in simple language the differences between side rails, nerf bars, rocksliders. and whatever else one might want to use for stepping and protection. Thanks.
I like All Pro Off Road for my 3rd gens rock sliders. I had a set on my 2nd gen as well. Inexpensive and they did not gouge on shipping.
Their bump out design has protected my rear quarter panels at least once by serving as a pivot point off of a huge boulder. They also work well to keep the doors from being dinged by inconsiderate folks in parking lots. Mine are welded on but some favor the bolt on type of mounting. I had both sets of mine powder coated also.
Yes they also serve as a step up into the vehicle. Plan ahead if you go this route-a little bit of friction/grip is helpful for when they get wet.
I think of nerf bars as a bit less sturdy, but imitating the same function as rock sliders.
Not sure about "side rails" exactly...my guess is that would be sort of a generic term for trail protection of the rock slider variety.
