Dumb Question

I've only had my '95 T4R for a week and was going over the owners manual. It recommends that I drive with the hubs locked for at least 10 miles a month for lubrication purposes. Should I??

Do you have manual hubs? If you have ADD flanges then I believe you don't as all of your 4wd parts are turning anyway. If you do have manual hubs I guess it can't hurt but I've never done it.

Yes I have the manual hubs. I guess I can see how it wouldn't hurt anything but I'm like you, I've never done it either. I've only owned GM 4wds in the past and only locked the hubs if I thought I would need 4wd at some point.

Sure. It ain't a priority and nothing's going to fall off if you don't, but sure.

There are gears and sliding collars inside the hub that lock the wheel to the CV shaft. If you were to go years, say, without engaging those gears, they could seize up and you wouldn't have 4WD if you needed it.

There's no harm that will befall you driving around with the hubs locked, by the way. You won't actually be in 4WD unless you shift the tcase. I drive around all winter with my hubs locked.

This is good info, like I said, I've never locked the hubs unless I was about to use 4wd. Ill give it a try and see what happens.
