Took the 4Runner to the Little Sahara in Oklahoma today to see how it would get around. I used to go quite often years ago but only on 4-wheelers and would rarely see 4wd vehicles. I made my way to the Back Bowls and rode the ridges and down the sides. No way in hell it would go UP the bowls but had fun trying!

As a fellow okie and frequent little sahara visitor, some of the back bowls are 45 deg and 100' high, it's even hard on non high horse power 4wheelers. I had an LTZ400 with full 440 kit and paddle tire and had zero problems but man some people on basic 4x4 utility 4wheelers struggle a bit.

Hopefully your truck still has paint on after being sand blasted with 50mph winds.

The sand was extremely loose and dry.....long dry winter. Would not go at all in 2wd. Only way to go up an incline was with momentum. The problem was not the power, but tire spin out. I played it on the safe side because there was nothing out there that could pull me out if i did get stuck. I did manage to to make it to the back bowls but didnt want to get caught in the bottom of one with no exit stradedy. If we get a good rain storm, I will be jumping the bowls! :wow2:

The sand is always like that (honestly it's like powdered sugar in places too) even in huge rain storms or snow storms (I've seen it all up there on a 4wheeler). It just pools up at the very base and if you hit those at 60+ mph with pattle tires you can skim the entire ponds.

Head over there the weekend after Easter if you want see some real chaos.

how did you mount your flag?

how did you mount your flag?

I made a mount out of a piece of aluminum angle and two carriage bolts. Need to grind two sides of the carriage bolt so it will slide into the slot of the rack, then turn it 90 degrees. Takes a little grinding and southern engineering but it works great.
