Dyno shop in Nor Cal?

Hi all,

I cannot find a dyno shop that will take my 4Runner. Either they only work on LS engines/muscle cars, or have hub adapters that do not fit a 6 lug design. Anyone have any shop they've ever taken a 4Runner/Tacoma to and had it put on a dyno? Or any Toyota for that matter?

Find a shop that has a mustang dyno. Off the top of my head, snail performance at FW motorsport in the greater sac area. In the bay, you'll have GST motorsports. I think LIC motorsport has one too over in Novato.

034 motorsports in fremont has one too. My buddy used to work there and I remember them not being so friendly about using their dyni, but you can give it a shot.

I will give these a call. That's been the response so far, "we specialize in X brand car, we don't do Toyotas".

Are you looking to tune it too? Or just throw it on a dyno? If it's the latter, make sure to specify that. I think Mike at GST will probably be the one to let ya do it.

I'd love for someone to look over my tune to see if I'm missing anything, but really just looking for a basline dyno run. Odd that so many shops won't even let me do that much.

I wouldn't know if those shops I gave you, would tune your truck, since they are subaru specific shops, but ya never know. They either might not want to spend the time to tune your truck since they haven't worked with Toyota's ECU's before or it might be really costly.

An option, if the Toyota ECU allows for it and you can't find a tuner here, is obtaining a tatrix cable and opensource tuning it yourself. Or try to find a tuner who is willing to work with you, either a person who can road tune you, or an e-tuner(email tune, sounds sketchy, but I had an etune on my WRX for some time. Although it ran a bit rich, the numbers were excellent in misfire, Fine knock learning, etc. Just got to find a reputable etuner). I haven't looked into this at all for toyotas, so you'll need to look this up, but... it is an option.

Toyota ECUs cannot be tuned, unfortunately. The actually will de-tune most piggybacks if not done right, it'll just pull or add fuel until it hits stoich 14.7 again. That's why most tuners won't touch my vehicle.

I'm going to try calling Snail/M45 today since they are the closest to me. If not I'll try a shop in Reno as well.
