well i know its the pic of the interior, but there is a button next to the dimming control. Sorry if i was not specific. :biggrin2:

however i called the dealer and was told if you look at it, it looks like an H with a cross.:dammit:

i cannot tell from the pics very well, but thanks for that picture that was posted. now i really know what to look for. :hungry:

i think these for being 2001 are in the 10 k area, are too much. yes they are both 2000 models :ybrick:

thanks

Rear locker was available from 1996-2000, and the center "lock" was on 2001 and 2002 models.

Well, a trasnfer case (center lock) allows you to provide power to both front and rear axles. A diff locker (in the axle) allows you to provide equal power to each wheel (on one axle).

ok now im confused, which one is better?
In a nutshell...

1996-2000 Rear lock: lnot standard, more sought after, "better" capable offroad

2001-2002 Center lock: standard on 4wd models, allows 4WD to be full time w/o any binding (locking center diff turns AWD into a conventional 4WD and should only be activated when driving on a loose surface

There's a lot more info on the two, jsut search this forum for "RR diff lock"

i was wondering about this the other day on my first trip up to the passes to go skiing,

i pushed the button in on the side of my '99's 4wd selector stick and it seemed to be a awd mode and still broke lose quite often and felt "light"
so then i shifted the stick down to 4HL the little orange pumpkin came on on the dash and that seemed to be a 4x4 mode with the front locked to the back and felt nice and "heavy" very solid....

is my basic thinking on this good?
push button=awd or 4wheel drive for pavement and not so slick surfaces
shift to 4HL orange pumpkin on= front locked to back true 4x4 mode for use on non-pavement surface and slick surfaces
shift to 4L+rr diff= off road use only,deep mud/steep inclines/crawling

thanks guy and i was stoked to get through all of the modes and play around and see how they felt!!!

Yup you have the transfer case actions/situations correct

Man, these electronic actuators are quite confusing. I still like pulling the lever in my jeep and getting out to lock the hubs!

Simple breakdown:
Early T-Case
2H= 1 wheel drive(open diff) power goes to path least resistance
4H/4L= 2 wheel (one per axle) open diff {3 wheel drive w/ RR Locker( 2 rear/ 1 front)}

MultiMode T-Case
2H see above
4H AWD mode computer control torque split front to rear but still open each axle
With Center Lock (orange Pumpkin) acts like earlier T-case.

OP if it is two H's with an X that is the Center Lock button if it has the factory E-locker then the button has RR Diff. E-locker is not available on 01-02 models.
