2000 4runner with gray wire mod. Was working perfectly for last six months. Locker the e-locker, now it will not unlock. What is wrong with it??

I assume you have tried the typical unlock maneuvers, i.e. slowly driving forward while turning left then right (not on pavement!)? Occasionally I have had to drive 20-30 yards before it would unlock.

I haven't done the gray wire mod, so I can't comment on that.

What he said. My old truck did that ONE time. I ended up having to drive about 75 yards, turn around tightly (on gravel) and head back about another 25 yards before it unlocked.

I don't have an e-locker, but I've read that you can remove the actuation motor and manually unlock it.

I had to remove the motor and unlock it with a screw driver. Yes, i did try forward and reverse with the wheels slightly turned about 15 times. Finally had to give up and drive home with it locked as I had no tools with me.

How easy was it to move the teeth/rail to unlock it with a screw driver? I'm having the same problem, I think motor stopped working while locked. I got the motor off and attempting to use a screw driver to move it into the unlocked position (right side) is not working, it won't budge. Tried wiggling the wheel while pushing on it but it barely moves a bit and stops.

Any special trick to this?
