Easy Non-Noticeable mods

Well I don't really know what to say, but my parents were totally against me modding mine when I first got it, then I started buying things one by one (then one day went to a friends house to "help him change the oil in his car" but somehow my 4Runner came back a few inches taller) now, my parents both love my 4Runner and think it looks sweet. They're just glad I'm spending money on that and not drugs and other stupid stuff. They've realized that's what I enjoy doing so they're cool with it as long as I don't go blowing my life savings on it haha. I'd say just talk to them about it, explain what you want to do, and just see what they say. If you're paying for it and it's nothing that can't be undone if needed, I'm sure they won't care that much.

hi im 16 i had a 4runner for about a year it was a 2004 limited 4wd. it had an aftermarket sound system that i added in and it had a 3inch toy tech spacer lift and looked great. it also had brand new bfgoodrich rugged terrain tires on it. but me and a fiend decided to do donuts in a dry pasture and it was in 4wd with the diff locked and then out of no where the 4runner rolled over and it was scary. but every one was ok. 4runners are very safe the side airbags went off. i wrecked it yesterday afternoon and I'm in deep trouble now

dang, you guys got all parental on him. if you really want to mod then start with keeping it clean and running. Do all maintenance and waxed and buffed and they won't care what you do. You will look like you know what you are doing. I started when i was 16 and your gonna drive for the rest of you life. so its worth it.

start with some stereo stuff, bulb upgrades, drop in filter, and bushings. once the car feels better to them they will respect the gearhead way of life.

The first thing to do, before you start mods of any kind, is to respect your parents wishes. Get some experience behind the wheel first, in all weather conditions, day and night.

Ok first off, I live somewhere where it does not snow. Second, I have driven in mud, dirt, grass, roads, wet roads, 3ft water floods, have pulled a 23ft Seahunt behind my car with it raining and with nobody in the car with me, and I have hauled christmas trees into a forest and was going 40 mph on a small ass road at night. So i dont need any more experience with driving. now i got that out, I do agree i need to respect my parents, but they dont understand that I am looking to do small mods that can be undone easily. Im not cutting into the car, Im not drilling holes into anything besides for a light bar. Thats what this post was for.

K&N air filter, helps fuel economy and quick and easy to do. Washers under front seat mounts for comfort because its uncomfortable for you.

Haha, you're digging yourself a big hole here. That kind of bulletproof attitude will hurt you. Chance are you are a decent driver, but you're 16 and although I've never met you, I'm flat out telling you that you don't know as much as you think you do. Believe me, I've been there done that.
Anyway, good luck with your mods. Sorry if I sound like a dad, but I am one.

I pretty much agree with most people here about not modifying the vehicle hoping your folks won't notice.

My first car was really my Dad's extra vehicle. I wanted to do all kinds of stuff to do it. I had a job and told him I wanted to replace all the speakers and head unit. Bought the stuff, and he and I spent a Saturday afternoon installing. Told him I wanted new hubcaps (yeah. hubcaps). He said go for it but put the originals in the garage an don't throw them away. Next was new seat covers, and so on. (Yeah my first car was a piece of shit. Sounds like you got a nice one!)

My point is, ask and explain what you'd like to do and maybe make it a project for you and your folks to work on together. Probably get a lot further with that approach.
