Easyguard passive push button

Hey all. Anyone have any luck with these types of units? My wife has a newer model highlander and I'm jealous of her keyless entry and push button start. I don't care to spend some money on a really good one if there is a recommendation that works well.

might be better just to install a remote start.

start it from far away, and just put the key in the on position and drive off. no need to bother with starting with key anymore.

You have me tempted to try this. I too am curious for any info from someone with first hand experience.
 
Yeah. I'm about to just pull the trigger on it. I just need good wiring diagrams and I'll be good to go.

Yes I could just get a remote start system, but I want it to be much more sophisticated than that.

I watched pretty good youtube review/unboxing/installation video. There were a couple things I didn't like about the system, but overall it does work, and depending on what version you get it can be as cheap as $60. Not bad at all for 2 fobs and a push button start setup.

I saw that too. The thing I need to decide is if I'm going to do it myself or take it somewhere. I'm very anti take it somewhere. I do all my own work unless I don't have the equipment such as air conditioning, alignments and tire mount/balance. I feel confident I could do it with a good wiring schematic. I used to install avionics in aircraft so I think I can manage this.

I guess the real question is this - is there a "better" system out there? The reviews on the Amazon units are hit and miss

Also - is there a good resource for the schematics?

Lol! Well is surprisingly not much different from automotive wiring. The big difference is aircraft wiring is all white. So tracing wires is marginally more difficult. And of course it's highly regulated. The documentation that goes into it is insane

you still need to put a key in the ignition to unlock the steering wheel. unless you want to break it and convert to a fully functioning push start.

my truck starts when i click it once to the start.
also i use remote start and it defeats the that push button start.

if you just want to do the push button, all you need, key bypass, some relays to trigger the ignition circuit and accessory circuit, some push buttons, this will make your truck start, but you still need key in the ignition to unlock steering wheel.
 
Please someone do this! I'm coming from a 2015 Honda Accord and I miss the keyless experience. I know I can get a proximity lock/ unlock and remote start which is fine...but having a push button start would be icing on the cake!

I second this. My 2019 Subi. has me spoiled in that I just leave my key fob in my pocket, put my hand against the handle and it locks, twice it sets the alarm. Put my hand inside the handle and it unlocks. Climb inside, hold the brake down and push the button and it starts. Foot off the brake, push the button and powers up the ACC. Since I got my 4Runner I now have to put my key in the ignition like a peasant lol. It would me nice to have a similar setup, throws me off going from vehicle to vehicle.

Haha right? Sounds absurd to anyone who hasn't experienced this on a daily basis before but you know what they say... Once you go push button start you never go back!
