Me=1, discontinued parts =0. I lucked into finding a new, still in the box, Hella micro DE foglight kit for my rig. I had been looking at options to add fogs to my SR5. To my knowledge, these kits were discontinued 3-4 years ago. New from Toyota stock fogs are prohibitively expensive. Used from EBay are usually rusted, pitted, cracked, etc. So, I had planned to order The Depo aftermarket fogs and brackets from Amazon. Then, I found this kit. Good price, brand new. Even including the installation instructions.
Fogs, brackets, relay and switch are all included. That makes the kit a lot cheaper than even the Depo Amazon fogs. Although I have a stock headlight stalk switch w/ fog controls on the way, so I won't be using the included switch. Actually, I have a second headlight stalk on the way. I learned that the Solara stalk that I found first, which is recommended, easier to find and cheaper, will not work on 01-02 models 4runners. Doesn't fit. Should work on earlier model years. Here's the Solara switch that won't fit. If anyone needs a head light stalk switch w/ fog controls for earlier model 4runner's, this ones for sale:
Now for the bad news. Rust=1, me=0. The bolts/nuts under the front bumper that the brackets mount to are rusted beyond usefulness. So, that turned into pulling the bumper. See the bolts where the brackets mount? Yeah, me either. That's because they're mostly gone. Lots of new bolts/nuts/clips, a few mount brackets, and one bumper reinforcement later, and the cost of this project has doubled. But, the front section of the truck will be rust free.
Went at the parts I won't be replacing with the grinder.

Once it dry and warm enough, it'll get some Rustoleum rust converter, followed by Eastwood satin chassis black. So, that's where we stand now. Waiting for parts from Toyota and some warm dry weather for painting.
