Ebay Skidplate?

I've never seen anyone on the forum run this skid before. So I'm just wondering, does anyone know anything about it? It's from a company called RaceSkids. I was just looking around at crap on Ebay and this turns out to be the only 4Runner skid on there. Not that I'm planning to get one anytime soon. Even if I was I'd probably get a BudBuilt. But this is purely out of curiosity and boredom. :roll:

I'm pretty bad at conversions but 10 gauge is roughly 3/32" thick and comparing it to other skid plates, its not that thick. A Budbuilt is 3/8" thick.

that looks awfully weak. gauge aside there are no bends for stiffing. that would be for looks only

Looks "cool'" but I bet I could throw a fastball at it with a rock and watch it create a nice big dent. If I wanted something that performed the same as the stock skid but looked better, sure I'd consider it. Not for that price though, maybe $75-$100 and sure as hell not over $350.

Looks like a pretty replacement for the stock plate, but no way in he!! I'd spend that much on it. Doubt it would take any abuse though, but if your like me, and don't deal with the rocks so much, I saved the image just as a future reference though.....

I figured it wasn't worth the money. It kinda amazed me that a company that makes skid plates for BMWs and other cars makes a skid plate for only 1 vehicle that isnt a car. and that is the 3rd gen 4Runner. im sure theres a story behind it of why they make it and they didnt just decided it would be cool to make. but still. im shocked at how large the aftermarket support is for these 4Runners. Makes me proud to drive one.

3/8" wouldn't be insane. Yeah, it'd be a little heavy, but not insane.

I'm running a 3/8" custom transmission crossmember, and the thing still bows in the middle about 1/2". Considering going to something bigger.

i think i have an idea on who it is making these... i see these guys around with their e30s and they would come in to BMW all the time when i was working there, if its the same guys im thinking of. -one of them or one of their friends probably owns a 3rd gen 4runner and they just made one for their rig and figured they could sell them to other people with 4runners...

looks way over priced if you ask me though, thats maybe a $100 skid plate... powder coating a skid is really pointless, its gonna get scratched even with powder coating, so you may as well rattle can it and save yourself some money
