ebay timing kit has arrived

well if some of you don't know my water pump seized up last week it was factory with 188k ... i couldn't afford oem everything but i wanted to replace everything so i did some research and deiced to go with this kit it

there not leaking everything on the front is dry should i try and replace them anyway ?

188k is a lot on seals, this is one of the few times when you ignore the "if it ain't broke, dont fix it" sayings. It's going to start leaking sooner or later, so why not change with the engine apart anyway.

I know on the Jetta TDI we used a cam lock plate, so i am assuming there will be a similar tool in the kit to do it.

and it'll be your dumb luck the darn things will start leaking after you get it back together just to take it all apart agian.

I've done this before on something with 97k and I wont ever do it agian

Do you have an impact gun with ya or are ya doing it with regular hand tools?

I would say wrap the old timing belt around the sprocket, have a buddy with a firm grip hold it and pop it loose with the impact.

Usually you would want to loosen them with the old timing belt still installed still

i dont have a 40 gallon tank that flows a ton of air so it wont mater if i had a good one
