Eclipse AVN6610 HELP~!

Can someone help me out with the install. I am having trouble locating the speed sensor wire.

I have the following items on my AVN6610

The bluetooth, Ipod (ipc106) and Camera (bec106)

The instruction from Eclipse did not help me much at least on the Parking and Speed Sensor tapping. However for the Reverse I followed exactly what they have instructed, tap it to the reverse light bulb. As for the Parking I was told it can be grounded to anywhere and for the Speed Sensor (eclipse manual is useless only say its on the ecu and does not tell what color the wire is) wire it should be located behind the A/C (right below the oem hu, on the black connector where it should be purple /red strip ( i actually have a total of 4 wires but many people on the forum only mentioned 3) anyway I have tried all 4 wires and none of them seem to work. All my lights turns on (check engine, vsc, vsc trac) after driving 1-2 miles. if speed sensor wire is tapped correctly it should show in the main menu > info > system setup?

When I am in the system setup screen the on the impulse speed it doesn't move and saying studying....

below are a list of results that I found but i cant seem to fix the problem i am having.

I also notice there is a beep sound each time I turn on the truck. is this the bluetooth? sometime i get a few beeping sounds. can someone confirm this? does this mean something is not hooked on correctly?

i have the avn 6600...i followed the instructions from the "norgetech" link for setting up the speed and reverse wire...they work perfect...i have the 4runner se 2004...

for your truck

your "speed sense" wire should be at the ECM behind the glovebox.

The color should be purple/red

Also, your parking brake wire should go to your emergency brake switch..there will be a switch coming off of the park switch, it will either be positive, or negative (which i belive you can select from on the unit (or is that pioneer??))

I am able to locate the speed sense wire on the ECM but still not able to get the unit to work. Still saying studying and 0mph in system setup. Is it possible that the unit is defective? I am 100% sure that I got the other wires (parking & reverse) tapped correctly.

On my 6600 i used speed sense purple/red at the ECM behind the glovebox. On the 6 cylinder models, it is in the 2nd plug from the bottom, pin 8. On the 8 cylinder models, it is in the 2nd plug from the bottom, pin 17. After complete wiring I had to reset the unit by removing the power (both ignition and constant) for a view minutes and all worked fine.

That is exactly where I tap the purple/red wire to, right behind the glove box. I am not sure what the pin number is, but I believed on the 2nd plug only have one wire with the color of purple/red. I did many search online and have yet to find across that someone posted any of their AVN unit have been defective.

Is it possible the antenna is not working? I would at least replug it and also reposition it outside the vehicle if even temporary like through the sunroof unto the roof to see if that could be the problem. I remember on my Garmin I was struggling with the same kind of problem until I finally replaced the antenna completely (most have had a broken wire inside).

I don't think its the antenna, because my map is partial working. also when i goto the system setup screen i have full signal on the antenna.

Finally got the unit fully working and no more check engine light.

The fixed is to cut the speed sense wire off of the oem harness(the one that connect to the head unit) before tapping the one that eclipse provided to the ECM

How come no mentioned about this? Does this only apply to 2006+ or something? But I am pretty sure there are a handful of out there that have the AVN6610 installed on your 06.

I have two questions about the AVN6610.

Is it normal that each time you start up the truck that you will hear a BEEP?

How come it doesn't speak the street name when giving direction? but instead they said turn left, right etc..

Maybe the setting is not enable? I doubt it though.

I have an 2005 and a 6600 and didn't have to cut the wire, just tap in. I also have no beep. Regarding the second question I also have no street name voice just street name printed on the screen.

Mine doesn't beep either. My 5500 and my 6610 only said which direction to turn and not the street names.

I guess it doesn't offer that feature to speak the street name then, that really sucks for a high end unit like this. most portable gps unit such as garmin have that text to speech feature.

not sure if the beep is related to my bt600 bluetooth? i doubt it though.

Update with problems... =(

** I have discover a problem this might be relates to the speed sense wire that have been cut off on the oem harness. when the car is started, when playing audio (cd/fm/ipod/dvd) the VOL TEXT stays on the screen and keep on blinking making it almost impossible to use the touch screen (i would have to touch it multiple times in order to navigate the menu) the audio quality also seem to sound like crap. **

when the truck is turn to ON mode every functions normal. the VOL TEXT does not blink on the screen an goes away right after adjustment(+ or -) and all the audio sound is normal as well.

if i connect the speed sense wire on the oem harness i am positive that i will get the speed pulse message will come up on the screen and after driving a few miles i will get all the lights turn on such as CEL, VSV etc..

i know there are a handful of you 06 guys with Eclipse AVN united install. Please advise.

Is it normal that each time you start up the truck that you will hear a BEEP?

Resolve:
The beep/chirp sound is actually my phone connecting to the bluetooth

any help will be greatly appreciated.

If I remember correctly you have about 42 wires to hook up for this unit. There is likely something not hooked up correctly. I would trace out the wiring which is a pain but your best approach to solving the problem.

Are you refering to the 42 wires that is with or without the optional devices, such as ipod and bluetooth?

would you mind providing me a digram and specific each wires?

as far as i know the only wire i left out is the speed sense wire from the oem harness and the mini plug that is hook on to the oem hu. eclipse device does not have this input.

i have called Eclipse several times and they seem to be useless and lack of knowledge

thanks in advance

Here is how my digram looks like.
I believe the wire I cut is off plug 20p (purple w/ red strip wire) I have checked the continuity of this wire and its the same as the one on the ECM.

Please note that red means no connections to the unit
