Eclipse back-up camera woes

So I recently purchased an Eclipse BEC104 back-up camera for my 04 Solara Nav. I plugged it into the back of the Nav just to test it out before I run the wire to the back of the 4runner. Well, I get no video when I shift the transmission into reverse. Shouldn't I be getting a picture? Any thoughts to why I am not getting a video signal.

TIA

Richard

How did you hook it up? you have to hook up a ground and ++ wire follow by the yellow video RCA jack. also check you setting on the nav HU to see if the rear camera option is turn on.

It's just a 4-pin plug that plugs into the back of the Nav. There are no separate ground, ++ or RCA wires. I didn't know there was an option for turning the camera on, though. Will have to try that out. thanks.

The camera might need to be grounded if not several month ago goodtimes posted several PDF's of the 2003 schematics. Do a search and use those to trace down your problem.

I added the same camera 2 months ago... i just plugs in. No need to ground, no wiring to do. I am guessing you NAV unit does not have the reverse wire hooked up correctly. Go into the DIAG screens and verify that it detects "reverse" correctly.

Had a bad connection at the tap connector on the reverse sensor wire. I think I will solder it in place instead of re-using the tap connector. Works great now.

Am I late

I want to add a camera to my nav unit anyone knows if a regular reverse camera off ebay will work?
If not where can i get this eclipse camera

You can get the Eclipse camera from Circuit City or Crutchfield. Runs about $239. BEC-105 is the latest model.
