I found a dealer in the Columbia Md. area that can install the AVN5435. They want 3300 dollars for the entire job including the back-up camera. They said the JBL 6Disc head unit has to be moved under the passenger seat to power the factory amps. They also said that the unit does not support satellite radio yet, even though the eclipse website claims that it does.

You are getting ripped off.
Definitely getting ripped off. The unit should cost around 1700-1800 and it does work with satellite radio because I have a Sirius tuner box hooked up to mine right now. Not sure how much installation should be, but with a JBL system, it might be a few hundred because a lot of things have to be rewired.
Yah I was thinking about this last night when I got home and I think the guy mis-understood me and thought I wanted the 5495. I know I was very specific in telling him that I wanted the 5435, but he must have heard 5495. I think that is also why he said the satellite radio would not work because apparently the 5495 is not set up for satellite yet.
I think your right in that must be a quote for the AVN5495. I don't know what they are talking about when moving the head unit. I have the 6 disk JBL Unit and will be getting my unit installed at a place called Excessive Audio and Beyond in Rockville, MD (301-738-2277).
They are charging me $1699 for the AVN5435 and $89 for the Sirius tuner. I decided that I'm not going to pay the extra for the backup camera. There install rates seem reasonable but I don't remember the exact figure, since I'm having a bunch of additional stuff done at the same time. I'm having them change all the speakers, add an amp, hookup a tv tuner, auxiliary cable for the ipod, and connect my previous amp and sub to this unit.
You might want to goto them as they would already have experience hooking up this unit to a JBL system 4Runner after mine. If you do goto them make sure you mention that this guy on some random internet board recommended them as he is using them to install this unit in his 4runner as maybe they give me some break on the install. There website is www.excessiveaudio.tv. Let me know if you end of going there.

Oh one thing I forgot to mention it takes a long time to get this unit in. I had them order this unit for me 3 weeks ago, and they still haven't received it. I don't believe it there fault as I think it more of an issue of Eclipse being slow to ship products. I contacted Eclipse and they claim that the unit isn't on backorder but I kind of don't believe them. When I first went to purchase this unit I went to Tweeter as I have purchased Eclipse products from there in the past, however they decided to stop stocking Eclipse due to the fact that they were slow at stocking there inventory. They said there were some cases where it would take them 3 months to get a product in.
jay_marx, sorry about the delay. I've been out of town quite a bit lately for work and have been very busy.
The install went pretty well, there is a few things that they didn't get right which I'm going to have them correct when they install the sirius tuner this weekend.
The two main things that they didn't get correct were that they didn't hook up the steering wheel controls and didn't hook up the antenna correctly. I think they didn't get the steering wheel hookup correct b/c I also had them install a tv tuner which goes into the same spot, but hopefully they fix that when I take it back. Currently the way the antenna is hooked up I don't get the greatest reception, but I found directions on how they should fixed that so that shouldn't be a problem. One thing I didn't like was that they wanted an extra $100 to ground the parking break, which I decided to pay as I didn't want to go through the hassle of getting someone else to do it. They had no problems wiring the replacement speakers and amp for the JBL system as I swapped out all the speakers.
They put in cloth on both sides of the radio to fill in the gaps which doesn't look too bad. However I want something that looks almost factory. I found three options. They are willing to build a fiberglass dash which would cost about $150. The cheap option is circuit city in Rockville (sales person James) is willing to modified a single din dash kit to fit the radio for about $40. I saw pictures of someone who did this on the audio board and he said he had about a centermeter gap on both sides. The option I decided on is having Tweeters build a custom dash. They charge $50 an hour and expect it not to take more then 2 hours. I set up an apointment for them to do this in about 2 weeks.
I haven't taken any pictures yet and am not all that big at taking pictures, but I'll look into it and hopefully can get something up next week.

Wow, so do you like it? Do you mind telling me how much the cost was and where you got it done at? Would you recommend that shop?

I already had a sub attached to the original JBL headunit and they attached that also.
BTW, I bought the speakers, amp and tv tuner online in order to save money.

So far I think the unit is great and highly recommend it. I think they did a good job at the install. I expected them to have problems as I mentioned above as this was their first time installing this unit and the JBL system is somewhat unique. I think the shop could be a little more responsive as I found myself calling them weekly to find out the status of the items that I ordered. When I ordered the unit they were ordering it directly from Eclipse which can be extremely slow, however they found another supplier where they can get the units more quickly now.
Regarding the GPS antenna, it was located pretty much on top of the glove department on the dash. It's attached by a magnet and I found if I move it all the way against the front window I still get a GPS signal so I went ahead and moved it there permanently myself. No big deal.
I like things to look perfect so I can't wait until I have Tweeter build a custom trim for the unit.
I'll get you pictures of the unit early next week as I'll be in AC this weekend. I'll let you know if they are able to correct all the items that I previously mentioned.

This past Friday they installed the Sirius tuner and were able to fix all my previous issues. I've been too busy to take pictures but will make sure I get pictures taken before I have Tweeters put in there custom trim next weekend, so you can see how they installed it. BTW, the unit is great.
Sweet...so there were no problems with the steering wheel controls? I appreciate your help, I'm right at the edge on wether to get it or not...and where to get it from.
The drawbacks, it doesn't have audio out for a rear monitor. So if you have a rear monitor, you would have to listen through the vehicle speakers..not wireless headsets. Of course there are ways around that...That's the only bad thing I've come up with so far.
