So a few months ago I did a center console swap, it was inspired by Brilliant's center console swap where he modified one with cupholders by adding switches to it..

I did the same thing, and it went pretty well.. When all was said and done though, I noticed that the ECT button didn't work anymore. It still lights up at night when I turn on my dash lights, but when I hit the button the ECT light on the dash won't come on. At the time I wasn't too worried about it, I never use the ECT, and I figured I just didn't get the switch plugged in all the way or something. Well, a month or so later I went up to Palomar Mountain with some friends, and while driving I thought I'd kick in the 4 wheel drive just to get the fluids moving a bit.. (Didn't actually need it, it was just a fire road) But, nothing..
The last time I used the 4x4, I had no problems, and I haven't tried to use it since I did my center console mod. Now, it could be unrelated, but I'm thinking it might be related to whatever I did that caused the ECT button to stop working..
To troubleshoot I took everything back apart, and did a continuity test on both switches. The switches are running fine.. I then tried to follow the wires back to see if I unplugged anything anywhere by accident, but the wires just disappear into the main wiring bundle and I didn't have any luck following them. As far as I can tell, I have everything plugged back in properly..
I also checked the 4x4 fuse and it is fine.. Oh, and I also pulled the instrument cluster and checked the lights, and they are both fine. However, when I turn on the ignition, neither the ECT or the 4x4 light comes on, but I'm not sure if they are supposed to come one when you first turn the car on..
So my first question is, can anyone tell me if either of those two lights are supposed to come on when you first start the car?
Second question, does anyone know if there is a common sensor or switch or something that might cause the 4x4 and the ECT to both stop working?
I don't have the FSM, so I'm not sure where the wiring goes after the switches.. I'm thinking about getting an FSM though.. Got another question about the FSM.. Does the FSM have all the wiring diagrams? I ask because I see one on ebay that has the FSM, and a wiring schematics guide.. Does the FSM not have the wiring diagrams? Not sure why there would be a separate manual for the wiring if it is already in the FSM.
Thanks!!
