Egnine Swapping???

So I recently bought my son the 4runner ("99 SR5 Sport 4x4 Autom w/e-locker), and it seems to running great, but........It's got 193K miles on it, and will never have great power.
I have an opportunity to pick up a 2010 Tacoma TRD 4.0 with tranny and drive gear ( 7000 miles on it) for about $1900 (the truck was rolled, but the engine still starts and runs great.
Anyone ever done a swap like that? I can probably get all the harnesses and stuff for next to nothing too. Just wondering how big of a pain in the a$$ it would be.

Not an easy swap at all from what I've read. Fitting it in there isn't fun and nothing really bolts up AFAIK. Most people just put in another 3.4 because it's easy and mostly because the 3.4 is considered bulletproof and arguably the best engine Toyota has ever made. While the 4.0 is good, it just hasn't been around long enough to make people want to give their 3.4s up just yet.
