EGR or no EGR identification help

What engine do you have? Assuming V6 due to the 's' on headers, you do not have an EGR. But better to say engine and year on a question like that...

My 2000 doesn't have a egr and I don't think 3rd Gen 4runners had one at least not for the 3.4l.
The 4-cylinder Gen 3 models, 3RZ-FE engine, have an EGR. Or at least the ones sold in North America do.
As a side note, the nearly identical 2RZ-Fe engine, 2.4 liters, used in 2WD Tacomas, did not have an EGR.
Possibly if a manufacturer is selling a header that fits both the 2RZ and the 3RZ it's necessary to distinguish 2 different headers. Or maybe 3RZ engine in some markets don't use an EGR.

The EGR version only pertains to some 3.4L Tacomas that did come with an EGR valve. You'd see on the stock exhaust manifold a pipe that goes up to the intake and pumps exhaust back into the intake. As long as you don't have that you are good.

The easy way, on the V6 5VZ-FE, is to look at the top of the throttle body. Those mystery little elbow pipes with the rubber caps are for connection to the non-existent EGR. If it IS connected, then you won the lottery. AFAIK, when the 5VZ-FE was updated to OBDII, the EGR was eliminated. Thus all EGR 5VZ-FEs are from 1995 or earlier, and thus no 3G 4Runners.

Sorry to revive an old thread but i have a sensor port thing thats been blocked of on my driver side manifold on my 96 4runner 3.4 which i have never seen before on any of my third gens. I'm guessing that is for the egr if there was one. this Does that mean my motor has been swapped or just a crossover in parts that they used since it is a 96?

It would most likely mean that it was a transplant part from a Tacoma or T100, though not 100% sure. Photo would go a long way as I'm not familiar with the 5VZ-FE EGR system, just the 3VZ-E 2nd Gen 4Runners and Pickups.
