Electric Fan Into Airbox......

Please don't flame just ran out of stuff to do and looking to mess around... If I wired a 120mm 12v dc fan that put 200CFM out into the opening of my deckplate, and pluged the normal intake. Would a higher pressure cause any effect what so ever? Im willing to be the guinie pig unless someone knows right of the bat this won't do a thing..

And if one 200CFM fan wasn't enough how about two? With two deckplates?

Lol its just something im thinking of I mean it should create a boost in pressure but im not sure how that will effect vehicle since its not really controlled like a turbo..

well they say leaf blowers range from 360-600cfm... So if Install one and get good results then two would get even better..
 
If your willing to go to these lenghts... i.e fans and leaf blowers, why not just make a "ram air" setup.

The engineers at Toyota (and all other makes for that matter) haven't used any similar pressure method, other than in true forced induction, so not sure what you would gain. But go for it.

Let's do some math. From a simplified (crude) theory point of view, an engine is an air pump. Using my 4.3L V6 in this example. Cruising at 2000 rpm you have 1000 intake strokes on a 4 stroke engine. That's sucking 4300 L/min of air which equals ~152 cfm. The 200 cfm fan should be good for ~2600 rpm but the pressure differential would be nil as opposed to max pressure at idle. Not sure how much pressure you actually get with the fan. Also, the pressure would change throughout the rpm range. Does this throw other engine sensor parameters out of whack, particularly the MAF/MAP, which affects fuel delivery?

I do, actually thats why most of my posts here are so badly written, its from my iphone...

And I actually do have the Dynolicious and was planning on using it but don't really believe its too acurate, but its accurate enough for before and afters..

I believe the computer would add more gas, but leaner does give you more hp..

HERES my theory..

Vehicles get better gas mileage at low altitudes dut to higher pressure right? Well a constant high pressure would be like driving the car in a lower altitude..

If a better flowing air filter gets better gas mileage or hp, and a deckplate in the front of the box yeilds higher horse power, then a fan pushing more air in should get even more hp or mileage...

Im no engineer but it seems to me if there is more air pressure the throttle will not need to open as much and................... well.... I don't know where im going here.. Let you guys know by next week..

Yes to both. Within a small range (slight increase in intake volume/pressure) the fuel injection will compensate adequately.

What I wonder about is 'conservation of energy'. How will the power increase? The fans use electricity supplied from the alternator. The more the alternator produces the harder it is to turn. Would it be a wash or would the fans produce a net gain?

well to me that would be like saying a supercharger won't work cause engine has to turn it. An e fan doesn't help cause it create resistance on alternator..

I think it's about effeciency.. Alternator is already turning so it's a little more effecient plus this fan can't draw much..
 
I'm sorry but this is a waste of time mod and isn't going to give any significant gains anywhere.

Isr gives no significant gains
deckplatgives no significant gains
throttle coolant bypass gives no significant gains

it's all in the fun..
 
I'm worried abou fan burning up if ran long perioids.. Anyways.. What do tall thing should I do it in deckplate hole so that I xan just unplug normal intake hole to use when not running fan or mount it after filter? Though it would have to be ran or it would increase drag..
