Remove the door panel and disconnect the two cables to the inside door handle. Unplug the window switches and the light in the door panel storage area. Peel back the covering over the maintenance hole on the inside of the door and remove the bolt lower left holding the rear lower window guide. Reach inside the door and remove the guide. Remove the rubber plug in the end of the door that is even with the lock cylinder. Remove the set screw holding the lock cylinder (it's in the hole just exposed by removing the rubber plug). Insert key in lock and use it to remove the lock cylinder. Remove the three screws holding the latch assembly in the end of the door and reach inside the door and remove the box and latch complete as a unit. The box houses the electronics etc. for the remote lock/unlock and is probably where the problem is.zz28 said:2003 4Runner, about 65K miles. Bought it new in 03. My drivers side electric lock no longer works. Works fine with the key.
Anyone know how to fix, how to get to the problem area etc?
Thanks.
