Electrical grease

Hey fellas. I recently installed HIDs on my 2008. After about 2 months of having them work perfectly, the connection seems to fluttered when I hit small bumps in the road. I checked my electrical connections and everything is solid. The ballasts are mounted securely. Would a bit of electrical grease in the bulb connections improve conductivity over bumps in the road?

Generally, no. Electrical grease (dielectric grease) doesn't really conduct electricity, contrary to popular belief. It is more to keep water out of connectors/connections. Any grease put into a modern connector is wiped away as the male prong enters the female receptacle. The remaining grease is an excellent water repellent that helps keep oxidation by water contamination at bay, which obviously helps prevent short circuits.

I would recheck all connections, especially your ground connections.

I agree with ToyTech, dielectric grease doesn't conduct electricity. It is used to provide some water and corrosion/oxidation resistance in outdoor/automotive electrical connections.

Check the connections and make sure they're solid. You may have to tighten up any male/female connections by slightly crimping the female end. Ideally, there shouldn't be any slack or "play" in an electrical connection - they need to be snug.
