My 2010 4Runner has developed a minor issue with the radio (SR5 RWD with the upgraded AM/FM/MP3 radio / non-navigation).
Basically, the "orange" screen has started to flicker at night when the head lights are turned on. I have taken it back to the dealership and this is what they determined:
The internal illumination adjustment (on the left hand side of the steering wheel) has a shared power source with the built in amplifier that causes interference at certain "reostat adjustment levels".
Basically what Toyota discovered is that when the headlights are operational and the interior dimmer is in "just the right" position, it will cause the screen on the radio to flicker. Once you adjust the dimmer, the flicker goes away.
If this happens to your radio screen, just try and adjust the brightness of the interior gauges.
