Electrical Issue - Rear Wiper Working without keys in ingition

Hi Everyone,

I was hoping someone might be able to offer any insight on an electrical issue my 2006 V8 4runner is having. The rear wiper is working when there are NO keys in the ignition. I figured out a way to stop it by cracking the rear window. I also have an alarm that continuously goes off. I pulled the horn fuse. I have a leak after a heavy rain in the driver side visor but other than that I have no idea what it could be. I am taking it to the mechanic tomorrow but wanted to see if anyone had any guesses. first things first. Have you had any electrical work done to the truck recently? i just had a 2006 GX470 with the factory alarm going off, ended up being an aftermarket alarm that was HORRIBLY wired in the factory wiring that it ended up shorting it self out and going hay wire. I would either have a trusted tech rip out the aftermarket alarm system and recheck the wiper and alarm issue. May be both in the same

It is just the stock alarm that has been in it since new. No recent work done. They both started at the same time.

If you have a leak, I would check the electrical connections under the dash, if they are getting wet, that may be the source of the problems.

That's a crazy rhinfcto have happen. Check your fuses and relays first off.

I had a similar issue with the rear wiper last year. Turned out to be the original Panasonic battery going bad after 6 years (not a bad service life). I replaced the battery...hasn't happened since.

This same thing is happening to my neighbors 2006. No keys in the ignition and the wiper would intermittently turn on for a few strokes. I pulled a few fuses to see if it would stop it, but it didn't. Mechanic could not find anything.

So I took it the the mechanic and he let me know what everything appeared fine and they pulled the board and tested the circuits and fuses. He says I will need to take it to the dealership. He talked about possibly needing a new module and definitely fix the sunroof leak.

Do any of you have any guesses on what replacing a module would cost?
