Electrical Issue - Where to Start?

Just started happening. When I put on the breaks or the blinkers my clock and radio dim like the headlights are on.

I noticed it just a few days ago and I had not done any electrical work. I did hook up a trailer and tow it about 50 miles and noticed it when I hooked up. Trailer is unhooked and it still does this. Not sure if the two are related or not, just trying to figure out what had changed that could have caused this.

I am not even sure where to start. I first noticed it on my aftermarket head unit and thought it was limited to just it, but I also noticed my clock dimming and the lights for my locker switches light up too.

Where the heck do I start?

First thing is to check if the running lights are coming on when you step on the brakes. You may have damaged a wire or two hooking up the trailer. Or it could be something else. If the running lights are coming on when you step on the brakes, it's not too complicated!

This.

Check all of your grounds. This includes:

At the battery
The cable that feeds the battery (not just the connector)
Engine ground
Body ground
Transmission ground

Make sure they are all clean and making good contact to clean metal.

Thanks for the help. It's cold and snowy out but I will check when I have a chance and post my findings.

Something happened to the wiring harness for the 7 pin trailer connection. I just snipped the connections and the issue went away. I must have had some wires get crossed or something. Going to rewire it when it gets a little warmer out.
