Electrical Problem

I figured that I would finally post this here. I have already asked guys in the NJ/Northeast section. Toyota has had my truck for 2 weeks because of an electrical problem. The origional sysmptoms are:
1. Some of the electrical stuff on my works some doesn't.
2. I thought I had a dead battery, but the truck started right up.
3. Oil Press light was slow to go out. VSC TRAC, VSC OFF, Check Engine and Battery light stayed on.
4. When you press the gas nothing happened until after it was press half way then it slowly increased.

Toyota origionally said that it was a bad alternator and the charging system wasn't keeping the battery completely charged. They said different things went through, what I would call in acft mx terms, a batt bus. Including the TPS. That didnt fix the problem.

After going through some stuff, Toyota Service Hq in Cal said to change the ECU. They did that finally today, and it is still having the same problems. Does anyone have any SERIOUS suggestions?

Not stuff like sell your truck. Those are just assinine responses. Thanks for any help.

a possible short in the system somewhere.. a minor one slowly killing your shiz.

a small short can cause some circuits to get toasted inside the ecu regardless if you replace it, it can just happen again. This can cause many kinds of miscalculations by the processor in the ecu. same thing for your PC computer. If some of the resistors and transistors short out or get overheated (by a short) and weld together or weld shut/open it can reek havoc for performance of the cpu.

Didn't think of that.

UPDATE: Toyota called today, they said that they have the sales department area getting another 2004 in and they are taking it back to the service dept. and the regional guy is coming back, just for my truck and they are going to start swapping/replacing all kinds of stuff. He mentioned something about a THROTTLE POSITION RELAY BAR. Anyone heard of this? If someone has an electrical manual, could you posibly look and see if there is suck a thing and if so, scan it and post a pic of it?

Instead of letting them do that, why not ask them to just give you the new 4Runner? Otherwise threaten to pursue the lemon law with it.

Just my $.02.

What's the deal ... any update?? I am very curious about this.

VSC TRAC, VSC OFF

When I see those lights all come on in the past posts, it has been because of a bad O2 sensor.

What kind of electrical stuff doesn't work?
