electronics question

For all you electrically inclined folk:

I'm the same guy that keeps bugging people about heated seats. I think I'm ready to give it a shot. I am going to get the aftermaker system (about $90/seat). It includes a round switch w/ 2 heat settings. I would assume this would make it a 3-setting switch (low/high/off).

Is the limited's heated seat switch also 3 settings?

Can I use the 4runner limited oem switch and splice into this aftermaker set? I assume switches are made the same.

Can someone verify where to get the power from for these seats. I assume the sr5 is not prewired for the heating elements.

Thanks a lot!

We had heated seats added to our 4Runner by the dealer. They said it is much easier to put in an aftermarket set, so they threw in simple on/off heaters in each seat. The power comes from a relay that is powered by the battery and triggered by a key-on wire--I'm not sure which one they used, but I used a black wire with red stripe for my dimming mirrors power. Under the driver dash, behind the kickpanel there are pair of side-by-side harnesses. The one on the right was empty and the one on the left had a plug in it with 6 or so wires. One of the wires is the black/red wire. Behind these plugs is a grounding bolt used for another harness, that is where I picked-up my ground.

Thanks for the info. Where did they place the actual switch??? And if you don't mind, what was the cost of the 2 seats?
