FEMA is actually part of Homeland Security; however, to answer your question, yes, it is "like" emergency management.

What exactly do you do?

To me E-management sounds like some sort of government bureaucracy.
Specifically I'm wondering what type of major gets hired to do it.
I would hope it is ex coast guard or law enforcement personnel who have actual experience on the ground dealing with emergency situations.

I'm not in emergency services myself, but I am prior military
now I work with computers. There is actually a sticky thread titled what do you do?
