I had two 20' cargo containers at our old rural home. I was able to source them new (one-trippers) from $2,500 to $4,000. Really nice. One would be fantastic for this purpose...

I will construct a carport at some point, corrugated metal roof, and maybe something can be done with that structure. As I recall, the orientation of the vehicle can be a factor with respect to the impact of an EMP. I'd have to read-up to make sure that's correct.
For household items, don't toss old metal file cabinets. Got one off CL years ago for 5 or 10 bucks. They make great Faraday cages (FC) for portable items like radios (normal, FRS, ham, etc), flashlights, computers, tablets, phones, etc...
Back to the 4Runner, another approach... Identify the parts or components apt to fail in such an event and have an extra set of those in the FC too.
