End of an Era

Photo says it all. On way to work this morning and guy ran a red light. 227k and the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned bar none. Was planning on 4 more years and then giving to my now 12 year old for her first vehicle. Body shop says H frame is shot.

Yup, she's cooked unfortunately. Hope the insurance payout is enough to buy another one that's equally as reliable!

The absolute worst when its no fault of your own... I would be pretty bummed if that happened to me.

As someone who has a 4th and 5th gen... I would consider buying another 4th before "upgrading". It's not the same.

Thanks guys - Yes with wife and 3 kids, vehicles are replaceable.

Just really bummed because I love not having a car payment, but most importantly the reliability of this beast. It was due for some pretty major work pretty soon totaling close to $3k so maybe it was time. Probably put about $2.5k worth of work to it in the last few years (gibson exhaust, new tires, brakes, etc).

Plan was to give to my now 12 year old in 4 years as her first vehicle.

Don't even know where to start.....

Glad you are ok! Sorry that ur 4r is toast.

Maybe get another one and swap out some of your mod/parts?

Mine is at 250k and plan on keeping it for much longer. I was just looking last night as a "just in case my 4r dies, what 4r would i get" and man 4th gens with 100k miles are still so expensive. Somewhere between 15-18k!

I bought my 03 LTD V8 4WD for $22k back in 2005 with 60k miles.

My condolences, I lost both of my Tacos to inattentive drivers, one was a t-bone the other I was car 3 in a 4 car pile up, I had stopped in time until car 4 hit me. There are still a lot of good T4Rs to be found out there.

Hey man, there is only one thing more expensive then our health is the process of getting it back.
If you have a shop, strip the goodies and let insurance deal with it.
Also, I thought that frame would be thicker, like a lot thicker.
